Bio

Julie P. Martineau, President & CEO of the Montgomery County Community Foundation, has dedicated her professional career to expanding the number of people served and services offered by creating lasting partnerships with key community stakeholders. Increasing resources to local nonprofits through legacy giving and endowments is her focus at the Community Foundation.  Developing business plans, strategic plans, fund raising plans, outcomes focused strategies, and her other critical experiences have shaped her work to Create Legacies in Montgomery County.  She holds a BS in Social Work from California State University at Long Beach. 

 

Prior to leading the Community Foundation, she served as the President of Montgomery County United Way for 19 years.  The organization’s accomplishments were recognized by the Houston Business Journal, the Better Business Bureau, GuideStar, and Charity Navigator as a 4 Star Charity. United Way’s strategic direction evolved under her leadership to engaging all sectors of the community to improve lives for lasting change, targeting key community issues and developing strategies that tackle personal, community, and environmental barriers. 

 

Ms. Martineau is an active member of several local organizations.  She is founder and immediate past president of Rotary House The Woodlands and board member at HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe.  Her Rotary District has tapped her to lead the exploration of establishing alternative clubs in the district.  She is on the Greater Houston Community Foundation’s Understanding Houston Advisory Committee to bring the Montgomery County perspective to the indicator project.  She has served as president of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, chair of The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, and was the founding co-chair of Leadership Montgomery County.  Additional leadership positions have been with the Greater Conroe Chamber of Commerce, Houston-Galveston Area Council, League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, and National Charity League Bluebonnet Chapter.  Montgomery County’s Commissioners’ Court appointed her to several Houston-Galveston Area Council’s committees addressing aging services, Hurricane Ike recovery grants, and regional transit planning. 

 

Rotary Club of The Woodlands honored her as one of their 2019 Texas Legends and with a Paul Harris Fellow.  The Woodlands Area Chamber named her their 2018 Community Volunteer of the Year; Leadership Montgomery County honored her as their 2016 Distinguished Alumni and the Rotary Club of The Woodlands named her their 2016 Woman of Distinction.  The community honored her as one of the original 25 “Hometown Heroes” for The Woodlands Texas in 2000, Montgomery County Outstanding Woman of the Year in 1990.  Her bio has been included in numerous editions of Who’s Who in the Southwest, in America, in the World, and of Women. 

 

She and her late husband, Russ, moved to The Woodlands in 1983.  She has two wonderful married daughters and five exceptional grandchildren who know how to keep her busy.
